Hi I’m Jamie —

here to help you embody the fullest expression of yourself

As a Registered Somatic Movement Educator + Therapist with years of diverse experiences, I am deeply passionate about guiding you to calm your busy mind, listen to your body, and find balance in your inner and outer world.

Though this is the work of my life today, it hasn’t always been this way. While I was “successful” in the outside world, for a long time I felt lost inside. I was overbooked, overworked, overstressed, and so disconnected from my emotions they began to manifest as physical symptoms. It wasn’t until I stumbled into somatic movement and experienced my own AWAKENING that I truly began to feel alive in the life I was living.

Now, I am a registered Somatic Movement Educator & Therapist (RSME/T) with ISMETA, Reiki Master Teacher (RMT), and co-creator of the Embodied Energy Cleanse program.

I am dedicated to supporting others in their own experience of embodiment, expression and connection.

MOVE Somatic Mindfulness

is my compilation of trauma training, energy work, somatic therapy and my deep love of dance that I hope will empower you in a fresh way!

FAQ’s

What does “somatic” mean?

From Greek sōmatikos means concerning the body, from sōma the body. Somatic means "of the body", most often used in connection with one's health, in the body including tendons, joints, bones, and muscles. Somatic nervous system, the portion of the vertebrate nervous system which regulates conscious or voluntary movements of the body, such as walking. Somatics refers to experiential movement disciplines and dance techniques.

Do we go “slow” or “fast?”

Both! We go back and forth between fast movements, slow motions and elongated movements. All to teach the nervous system to be stimulated to return back to a steady state and to challenge your muscles.

Can I do this alongside other workouts I love?

Of course! You are free to bring Move Somatic Mindfulness in your life in whatever fits your desires and needs.

What if I can’t dance?

If you can walk, you can do any of the classes or programs with MOVE Somatic Mindfulness! It is all about moving for energy balance. Any level of mover is able to experience the wonderful benefits of the classes and programs.

What if I’m afraid of being embarrassed?

Moving with a community of people is a vulnerable and courageous thing to do! While if you’re new to these kinds of experiences you may feel a bit awkward at first, know this is a comfortable safe space for you to explore and be yourself. You can choose to take the class with your personal camera turned “off “ or “on” at any time.

Will it be like a “workout” ?

Absolutely! This accessible, low-impact experience will ignite all your muscles and senses, leaving you feeling energized, connected, and in good shape.

Is this like a dance-fitness class?

This could feel similar to other dance fitness type experiences in the sense we use basic dance movements for energy locomotion, steps and rhythmic patterns, but MOVE classes are even more intentional (typically a little slower - mindful for deeper awareness and internal connection), since we are also striving to consciously connect our mind and body.

What is somatic mindfulness?

Somatic (body) mindfulness is practiced with movement by focusing one's awareness on the present moment while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, without interpretation or judgment. Somatic mindfulness in MOVE sessions involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the mind, body and nervous system and help reduce stress.
